Overton Retreat Pavilion
The award winning Overton Retreat Pavilion is the primary community structure for the Overton Retreat community. Located along the edge of a 30-acre lake, the pavilion is a covered dwelling that will accommodate gatherings of various sizes. It features a large stone fireplace, barbecue grills, a fire pit, a grassy play area, restrooms and a dock that curves out into the lake. The tower at one end of the pavilion building allows for viewing over the pavilion area and beyond.
The design draws on the local, Appalachian vernacular and meets the community's architectural guidelines. The circular form emphasizes the concept of community and provides a sense of inclusion, while remaining open to the lake and outer play areas.
