Douglas Residence
This restored historic 1890s Nantucket home is prominently positioned on a busy street and is well known for its original patterned shingle façade. It was in very poor condition when the client acquired it. During the structural evaluation CWA found the first floor had receded from the house, almost entirely, and was deteriorating. Total rehabilitation was necessary while maintaining its historic form.
The footprint of the structure remains the same while the interior has been completely renovated. The house was rewired and plumbed, and a new structural system was installed with a full concrete foundation. All the original windows have been replaced and the front dormer was modified to restore the appearance of the original façade.
