about
healing arts
The healing arts, such as Reiki, massage therapy, polarity,
tai chi, crystal healing and hypnotherapy, may be considered
alternative medicine. Here at thespace we may
also refer to them as "hands on healing", energy work
or movement therapy. Hands are superconductors of energy that
can bring forth great acts of beauty, compassion and kindness.
One can communicate his or her gift by connecting inwardly first,
and then by learning simple healing art techniques, will marry
the inner meditations with outward expression with the potential
to heal.
about the feldenkrais method
The Feldendkrais Method was developed in the late 1940's, by
Moshe Feldenkrais, a mechanical engineer and physicist, as well
as a black belt in Judo. Feldenkrais combined these studies
with his interests in biology, perinatal development, athletics,
and linguistics to rehabilitate himself after a debilitating
injury to his knee. This technique is a catalyst for any form
of regular exercise or physical movement by providing new information
directly to the neuromuscular system.
Feldenkrais emphasizes movements that will maximize efficiency
with minimum effort and abandon habitual patterns; while improving
posture, breathing, and flexibility. This Method also reduces
stress, tension, and fatigue and eases pain and stiffness.
Used worldwide, Feldenkrais integrates movement with thinking,
feeling and sensing. It is for everyone, young or old - health
care professionals and therapists, artists, sports enthusiasts,
laborers, salespeople, and office staff. Practioners have been
incorporating it's principles in educational, athletic, and
performaning art forums, as well as in the realm of the healing
arts.
Pilates
Developed in the early 1900's by a German athlete, physical trainer and physical therapist, Joseph Pilates (1880 - 1967), this method of exercise widely used by dancers, emphasizes muscular balance and mind-body awareness. Pilates' pursuit of health and harmony led him to incorporate his diverse studies of yoga, martial arts, gymnastics and anatomy into a series of movement principles. These movement principles became the exercise method known, especially in the dance world, as "Pilates." Today more and more people are adding this method to their health and fitness programs. The benefits, as with other movement practices such as yoga, dance, martial arts and strength training, are numerous and "multi-dimensional." Pilates balances and strengthens the body's core (its muscle groups, bones, and joints) through the series of consciously controlled and aligned movements. The focus on mind-body awareness brings a more natural, spiritual harmony to the practioner. Pilates relieves tension while improving pelvic stability, posture, abdominal control, breathing, flexibility, joint mobility and overall stamina. |

human energy field and learn to use electro-magnetic energy
currents for healing in yourself and with others. This Hands-On
Workshop will introduce you to Polarity Therapy’s basic
principles, primary pathways of energy, bodywork manipulations,
and movement exercises. Developed by Dr. Randolph Stone, DO,
ND, DC from over 60-years of study and medical practice, Polarity
Therapy is an energy-based holistic therapy that synthesizes
ancient Eastern and modern Western approaches. This unique 5-day

reflexology
of the hands, feet & ears
Reflexology, also know as Harmonic Zone Therapy is a natural
healing art which maps correlations between specific areas of
the body. Practiced for thousands of years in India, China,
and Egypt, it can be used on oneself, on friends or to compliment
any professional bodywork practice. Reflexology utilizes precise
manipulations of the feet, hands, and ears to stimulate the
glands, organs and other areas of the body thereby increasing
circulation, relaxation and normalization of body functions.
This workshop teaches simple methods for mapping the harmonic
reflexes between
the hands, feet and ears to the rest of the body. Students will
learn to increase the effectiveness of their work through polarity
manipulations of the reflexes with corresponding contacts at
the afflicted areas.
