Januar, currently residing in Amherst, MA, has created and taught new dance for more than twenty years; directing performance companies in both New York and Maine.

He trained and performed professionally as a principal dancer with renowned choreographer Nancy Meehan in New York City and during the 1970’s was among the pioneers of new improvisational dance forms in California.

Januar’s fluid dynamic work integrates the Hawkins and Meehan modern dance traditions with improvisation.
