Joti Singh is a world traveler, student, dancer, and culinary wizard. She received her B.A. in English from Reed College in Portland, Oregon and will be attending graduate school at UC Berkeley, specializing in South Asian studies. This is her first summer on Nantucket.

Joti has been studying West African dance primarily in Portland, Oregon for five years. To further pursue her love for this dance, she traveled to Guinea, West Africa in January and February of this year to learn from Moustapha Bangoura and other members of Les Ballets Africains, West Africa’s premier dance troupe.

Joti has choreographed and performed for numerous events in Portland, Oregon and often attends conferences and workshops around the country. She hopes to inspire her dance students with the confidence and radiance that the energy inherent in African dance provides.
