Kris began his martial arts education with Japanese Karate in 1982. After seven years he received a black belt from Master J.H. Kim. In 1992 he left the Nantucket to live at the Wah Lum Temple Kung Fu School in Orlando Florida to study under Master Chan Pui. The curriculum at Wah Lum was mainly Praying Mantis Boxing, but do to the advice of Master Chan, Kris also took up the study of Yang style
Taiji Quan.
After receiving a gold sash at Wah Lum, Kris decided to further his studies of Taiji and other internal styles. He began with a week seminar with Master Jou Tsung Hwa and then took a few trips to China. These trips culminated with his enrollment in the Internal Martial Arts program at the Beijing University of Physical Education
After graduating in 2001, Kris stayed in China continuing his training outside the University studying with Masters Shi Feng Qi and Zhu Bao Zhen. He now has a solid background in four internal arts; Taiji Quan (Supreme Pole boxing), Baguazhang (Eight Trigram Palm), Xingyi Quan (Form of Mind Boxing), and Da Cheng Quan (Great Achievment Boxing).
